Lap The Lough 24th Augest 2008!
Tuesday, July 1, 2008, 11:27 AM - Bike Stuff
The 2008 event will takes place on the Sunday 24th August. Lap The Lough is a cycle sportiff, meaning it's not a competitive cycle, it's just you against the distance. We're in our third year and still on course to be one of the best events on the Irish cycling calendar.

We've tweaked a few things from last year but we hope it's all for the better. If this is your first year riding with us then have a read around, visit the forum if you need any questions answered and please sign up early to give us an idea of numbers.

The Tour of Inishowen Sunday 20th July 2008. Looks Tight!
Monday, June 23, 2008, 12:11 AM
The 150k.tour starts in the seaside town of Buncrana on the shores of Lough Swilly. It crosses the Inishowen Peninsula in an easterly direction reaching Lough Foyle after a 20k trip crossing the Illies Hills and taking in a category 2 climb past the Fullerton Pollan Dam. From there the route goes north along the shores of the lough on a relatively flat course through Moville, reaching Greencastle after another 20k.Turning west there looms another cat2 climb over Cooks Hill to Kinnagoe Bay and onwards for a welcome lunch-stop at Culdaff Town Hall. From here the direction is north westerly taking the road to Malin Head,Ireland's most northerly point. As we head south there will be a few more gear-crunching moments before we reach level ground at Lagg.A relatively flat course then takes us through Malin Town,Carndonagh,Ballyliffin and Clonmany.Moving westwards again we will then reach the foot of the Urris Hills and the famous Category 1 Mamore Gap.This will then be crossed through a serious of hair-pin bends.

64 miles in 3 hours 15 mins :) on my new Tri Bike!
No squeaks, rattles, chainrub and great rolling wheels.

800 Cyclists took me 10 miles to pass them to get to leading
pack. Heavy rain the whole time! Headwind, Gusts! and great
sense of achievement!
